The importance of properly sharpened chainsaw blades cannot be overstated when it comes to the efficient and safe operation of chainsaws. Chainsaws are invaluable tools used in various industries, including forestry, arboriculture, and construction, for tasks ranging from tree felling to woodcutting. The cutting performance of a chainsaw is directly linked to the condition of its blades, and neglecting proper sharpening can lead to a cascade of issues affecting both productivity and safety.
Efficiency in cutting
Properly sharpened chainsaw blades ensure efficient cutting through wood, allowing for smooth and precise operations. Dull or improperly sharpened blades can result in slow cutting, increased effort for the operator, and a higher risk of kickbacks.
Safety
The safety of chainsaw operators and those in the vicinity is paramount. Dull blades can lead to erratic cutting behavior, increasing the chances of kickbacks, where the chainsaw unexpectedly jerks back towards the operator. Properly sharpened blades reduce the risk of accidents, promoting a safer working environment.
Reduced Operator Fatigue
Dull chainsaw blades require more force to cut through wood, leading to increased operator fatigue. Proper sharpening minimizes the effort needed for cutting, allowing operators to work more comfortably and efficiently, especially during prolonged use.
Extended Equipment Lifespan
Regular sharpening of chainsaw blades contributes to the longevity of the entire chainsaw. Dull blades can cause excessive strain on the engine and other components, leading to accelerated wear and potential breakdowns. Properly maintained blades ensure a smoother and more reliable chainsaw performance over time.
Precision in Woodworking:
Cost Savings
Properly sharpened chainsaw blades result in more efficient cutting, reducing the time and effort required for tasks. This efficiency translates to cost savings in terms of labor and fuel consumption. Additionally, well-maintained blades have an extended lifespan, reducing the frequency of replacements and associated costs

T-REX CHAIN SHARPENER A GREAT INVESTMENT!
The Dinasaw “T-Rex” has arrived and will relieve you from the drudgery of chain sharpening. The T-Rex is fast, extremely accurate and will sharpen most styles of chains.
From the small arborist chain through to 3/4″ harvester chain. All sharpened automatically and with very few adjustments needed when changing between chains. Fast is good, especially when it comes to sharpening. High feed speed introduces less heat to the cutters thereby maintaining the metal’s temper. The T-Rex can grind up to 30 cutters per minute, with both left and right hand cutters sharpened in the one pass.
Unsequenced joins are not a problem as the T-Rex can look for the next cutter and correct the grind angle to suit. Automatic operation at up to 30 teeth per minute frees you for other jobs.
The machine can be bench, floor or wall mounted with optional stands.
The positive cam operated chain clamp ensures the cutter is securely held only while being ground and then immediately released to allow indexing of the next cutter.
